A national day of celebration of the vital work of Youth Theatres across Ireland on March 4th.
A special celebration of the vital work being carried out by Youth Theatres across Ireland will happen on March 4th. ‘I Heart Youth Theatre Day’ is a national day of celebration organised by Youth Theatre Ireland. It will highlight the work of Youth Theatre leaders and members as a community which has forged ahead, either online or with limited capacity offline, throughout 2020 and whose work will continue through 2021.
Eoghan Doyle, Director, Youth Theatre Ireland recognises the trojan, creative work achieved by members in Ireland in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic. ‘Despite everything that has gone on in the last year, youth theatres across Ireland kept the doors open. When they could they met in person and when they couldn’t they moved online. What never changed was the passion and love for youth theatre that was shown by our amazing leaders and young people all across the country. Work was created online and the creative voices of young artists were still heard. As we launch our new strategic vision, this campaign reminds us all why we do what we do and where the heart of youth theatre lies.’
On March 4th, Youth Theatre Ireland will launch its latest Strategic Plan in addition to a new website featuring additional resources and supports for members. The day will also highlight ongoing events and workshops happening in each county in Ireland. In its 40 year existence, the role of Youth Theatre Ireland and its members has been crucial to the personal, social and artistic development of young people in Ireland and is now more important than ever.
